Sunkadelic

The Mighty Flag

The best singer of the Mighty Flag.

1. Keith Morris - Why do you think Hank joined in the first place? Talk about the real deal.
2. Henry Rollins - Say no more - a source for inspiration!
3. Dez Cadena - Responsible for recording the best rendition of Louie Louie ever!

Da Oak stealing waves from the locals

Have had a couple of excellent weeks with a great visitor from the north. Here you can see him taking good care of my son at Randwick Rugby Club.

As a man of good taste he had done his research and prompted me to book tickets for the Bronx gig in Melbourne. Thanks very much for that one mate - what a kick ass display of good ol' plexiglass guitarr mofing rawk n' roll. The venue even had a convenient room with good views close to the bar where old people could enjoy the concert sipping cool Bundys without getting their already bad hearing any worse. These people play two kinds of music - Rock and Roll.

Da Oak then continued by pushing the envelope and have two bloody mary oyster shots at Barney Allens.

As we say in Sweden - Nobody remembers a chicken!

Xmas shopping

Scary things happen in your surroundings when Christmas is approaching.
Charles Manson may be behind bars but there are still some crazy mofo's out there...
Done most of the Christmas shopping today in confined spaces with a pram, you gotta love it. And yes, the picture is from the close vicinity.
To calm down I have played some records. Tonights playlist so far:

Phil Spector's christmas album x 3 (well, you have to adopt to your environment, don't you?)
Beasts of Bourbon - Chase the dragon
St Etienne - Only love can break your heart
Polyphonic Spree - 2000 places
Hank Williams - I saw the light
Granpa boy - Eyes like sparks
Teenage Fanclub - Sparky's dream
Make it reggae song from Soul Jazz 300% collection
Gorillaz feat. S. Ryder - Dare
Depeche Mode - Never let me down
Skids - Valley of the dolls
Curtis Mayfield - People get ready
Mighty Diamonds - Pass the kouchie
Then I had to cook dinner so albums was the way to go -
St Etienne - Smash the system
Mattias Alkberg Bd - Tunaskolan

Mayhem rules the mall!

Heavy Shit Man

Had to bail out to the pub at lunch today. Have heard from the locals that the waterhole have a bit of a dark history. Check this out.
You kinda understand the name change from Viking Tavern to Milperra Palms.
Great coasters.

Computer crash

I can certainly relate to this strip.
Not too fond of big corporations in general. But I tell you when your small business relies on a working computer you are quite happy when the FedEx guy picks up your broken IBM laptop and delivers it fixed to your door a couple of days later, all this free of charge. All you need to do is to pick up the phone and dial a toll free number.

I stole this pic from my Old Bastard friends who stole it from someone else.

Expensive reading

Yes I know what you are thinking. Old man Zunkador is getting slow and tired. My only excuse is that the goddamn bookstore on Oxford Street took ages to realise that PEOPLE NEED EDUCATION ABOUT THESE HIDDEN GEMs in music history. Well the copies eventuallly got there and now finally I think I'm ready with my first round of reading and digesting. I say digesting because Mr Raynolds is approaching his subject of matter quite thoroughly. My spontaneous comment about Simon R's writing would be 'lightweight Lester Bangs', but don't get me wrong the contents and stories definatly makes up for any weak spots. THIS BOOK IS MANDATORY READING.

But folks be warned! After you have read the book you might find yourself placing bids at gemm.com for an overpriced copy of PILs Metal Box.

My favourite disco tune right now (not in the MP3 player because once again I'm slow), courtesy of Mr Raynolds:

The Devil Lives In My Husbands Body - Pulsallama

Only thing I can say is that oil drums certainly kick ass, even more so than cow bells.

And how about this part of the lyrics:

The doctor said - "I'm sorry but your husband has an incurable psyciatric disorder, Tourettes syndrome."
-"Aaaah and our health insurance doesn't cover it."

Weltklasse as the organisers of the friendliest World Cup ever like to put it.

My only issue right now is that Pulsallama seems to be unheard of on the Internet. One thing I know for sure though. Once I manage to track down any of their records they will cost me a bloody arm and a leg.

There is light at the end of the tunnel

On my ski trip my friend Krille Krokodil told me to check out www.fbi.org.au. Have been my channel of choice ever since. Non commercial channel with, by and for all you lovers of music. In additon they promote the local independent music scene. Frankie says: stream!

Free your heels and your ass will follow

Have been somewhat busy lately. All good stuff though. Been skiing for the first time in two years and I think we discovered a new gem.

Quote:

"Home of the hard core, Craigieburn is steep, deep and often gnarly. Beginners are advised to just stay home. For those who can handle it, this is THE place."

I rode the mountain to the best of my old and slow ability on these...

What would have happened to the ski industry without snowboarding??

Our guide took on the mountain using these beauties.

I put my vote on these until they put out of a pair of Raymond Pettibon ones.

Run to the Hills.
